Normal people with ordinary lives are moonlighting as Instagram celebrates and getting paid to post pictures and you can too!

There are a lot of articles on how to make money blogging, but how about making money on Instagram?

There are many ways to make money off having a social media presence, but one of the newest is Instagram. Because this is primarily a visual based platform, it is an excellent way for brands to get their products in front of new eyes.

Instagram is currently the fastest growing social media platform and is the hottest advertising market; everyone wants a piece of the action. And there are endless opportunities as new brands create accounts every day. Great news for you, all you need to get started is the Instagram app and an Instagram account.

It’s funny, but I think small shops clued into this a lot faster than corporate companies and now the big guys are scrambling to catch up. I’ve been seeing collaborations between small, handmade shops and popular social media accounts for ages now, but just recently there has been an increase in bigger companies going after the small fish so to speak.

How do I know all this? Easy. I’m one of the fish.

I joined the blogging community for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was because I wanted to make a little extra income for my family. After making a blog, I started my Instagram account to go along with it and quickly realized that Instagram would be a faster way to grow my target audience than blogging.

A few months back I underwent a massive change on my Instagram page, overhauled my entire feed, and started growing my follower base. Shortly there after, they started contacting me.

Who’s they? Various businesses, companies, and small shops. Because here’s the thing, when you’re a Social Media Mommy you’ve got the fan base and have built the trust with your followers, and that is what they are looking for. Companies want to get their product in front of new fans and I’m the one who helps them do it. But I digress.

The real reason you’re here is to find out how you can make money off something you already do; get paid to post on Instagram! So let me share with you some of my secrets, because that’s what friends do, right?

6 Ways to Make Money on Instagram

Linquia – This is a pay per click site. They set you up with big corporate sponsors and then give you a link to help “track” your progress. You can post on all your social media sites to help promote the product and share your link but you cannot expressly ask for clicks; I mean that is probably a given, but I thought I’d spell it out anyways. I will be writing a review soon on what I thought about working with them, but if you are interested in signing up, please use this link! I get a $5 kick back for every Influencer I refer; and hey, $5 adds up!

FullBottle – This company offers different collaboration projects with large companies that are looking for influencers to spread the word. Each project has its own requirements and you have to “apply” for them and then the company accepts the best candidates. You submit a bid along with your application, typically a person can receive $0.15-$0.19 per like. Once the post goes live you’re paid on however many likes you can get in 72 hours. They also have a plush referral system and you get $200 (yes, you read that right) after one of your referrals complete their first project with full bottle. So please, if you love me even a little, and decide to sign up for FullBottle, either put my name (Stephanie Peltier) in the referral box or email me and I can send you and email invitation so I get the credit because come on, who doesn’t want to make any easy $200 dollars!?

Real Clever – You have to apply for this company, but once accepted you can apply for their different campaigns. They have many different types of campaigns and are not strictly for the Instagram app, but you can get paid the big bucks if you land one of these! Many campaigns run anywhere from $250-$1,250 in payout, how’s that for a pay day? Sadly this one does not have a referral program, so I get nothing but the fuzzy feelings in my heart for telling you about it.

HashtagPaid.com – This site I’m not so sure about. It’s another site that you have to apply for, but brands can see you, you can’t see them and you don’t apply for anything. You have to have at least 5 thousand followers, and although I applied and was accepted awhile ago, so far I’m still just sitting there. Oh well, it’s worth a try, right? Maybe you’ll have better luck!

Affiliate Programs – Because Instagram is so popular and moving so quickly right now, many companies offer affiliate programs to help get the word out about their product and give you kick backs! (Woot woot!) When you’re poking around a new website, keep your eyes peeled for affiliate information (sometimes hidden near the bottom of the page), I’ve been shocked at how many companies are offering affiliate programs and how plush they make them! Currently I am an affiliate for Too Much Monday which is a monthly subscription box including a book and a bunch of goodies to pamper yourself with. It’s an amazing program and I love working with this new start up company, if you’re interested in finding out more you can check them out here.

Man, I feel like I’m giving away all my secrets, but you all are worth it, so let’s dive into my last secret, the biggest one yet!

Market Yourself – Yep. You read that right. Did you know there is now a market for everyday people (such as ourselves) to work with brands, market products, and get paid for it? You can go to socialbluebook.com right now, plug in your stats and get an estimate on what you could be charging for posts, your engagement rates, and a bunch of other great information. While I feel SBB sets its rate a little high, it’s still a good place to start. After that start making a media kit. It’s as simple as using the Canva app and uploading a few pictures. From there you start sending it to companies; either when the reach out to you or if you would like to work with them. And just like that, you are making money off your Instagram account. Could this pay the bills or allow you to quit your day job? I’m not sure, but I’ll let you know when I do.

*deep exhale*

Guys, I’m seriously nervous about this post; not like bad nervous, but butterflies-in-my-stomach nervous because this is all so exciting, and well, I’m a little bit afraid you all are going to put me out of business. But oh well. My aim is to always help those around me as best as I can and I feel like this information is hard to come by right now.

Because this is such a big subject and there is so much that goes into making a media kit and building a social media presence, I will defiantly be following up on this topic in the near future and hope to share more of my discoveries about Social Media Motherhood with you as they develop. I am literally learning on the go and want you to come right along with me!

  2. Hey, I just stumbled onto your blog from Instagram and really want to thank you for sharing your hard sought after knowledge. I always love a fellow open hearted person and no good deed ever goes unrewarded. As a newly wed, being a mummy is still some time away, but I want to start investing in additional source of income! My husband encouraged me months ago to develop my Instagram account and after letting self doubt delay me for so long, started my blog last week. I had moved back to Nigeria a couple years ago, so I don’t know if many of your site’s may apply internationally but am gonna do my research. There are so many sites out there but gonna start with your recommendations since they have been tested and tried by you already…keep up the kind hearted work!!

    1. Tomini,

Thank you SO much for your feedback! I can’t tell you how much it means to me! I’m so glad to hear that you’ve found some helpful in formation and I hope your Instagram and Blog are successful! I have influencer friends in a lot of other countries -although I’m not sure about Nigeria, but now i do 😉 so I know there are other sites for other countries, I’m just not sure what they are! But if I learn of any I’ll definitely let you know!

      1. Hello, I think my initial reply got lost..but I’m glad to be your first Nigerian Influencer friend..love the word #influencer, it’s so empowering. I will also do more research and share with u what u find, and pls do so too if u hear of any sites your international friends are using. I think most are alright if one has a PayPal account but cuz of the silly swindlers that have spoilt the reputation of country as a whole, PayPal limits what we can do on their site when we are based here

        1. Yes it is! Working as an influencer has definitely opened up many new opportunities for me! And I will definitely share anything I dig up! That’s really a bummer about PayPal though, it’s the main thing I use to get paid 🙁
