A Custom Fine Art Portrait by Caleigh Bird
If you’re looking for a unique gift or want to capture a moment forever, consider giving the gift of a hand drawn portrait; this timeless keepsake will only grow more precious with the passing of time.
(This is a sponsored post, I received a complimentary custom portrait in exchange for this post, but as always, all the opinions expressed in this post are my own.)
Children grow up way too fast, it’s a fact. These precious, fleeting days when they are young, impressionable, and oh so innocent pass by in the blink of an eye and suddenly they’re grown. Already I can see the changes in my daughter; once in awhile I catch her in a moment that takes my breath away as I can see just a fleeting glimpse of the beauty she will be someday. I always wish I could capture a portrait of her in those moments but they’re there and then they’re gone.
My son, always older than his age, is growing so quickly and absorbs information like a sponge. I see such deep intelligence in his blue eyes and am so proud of how he’s maturing. He uses words like “excavator”, “consequences”, and “frustrated” correctly in complete sentences. Where did my baby who used to pronounce dump truck as dumb f*ck go!?
I think the passing of time is one of the hardest parts of motherhood; the bitter sweet reality that our children won’t be our babies forever. I love to watch them grow and see their individual personalities develop but at the same time I want to freeze time forever and keep them small too.
That is why I am so grateful to recently have partnered up with Caleigh Bird, an artist who specializes in Custom Fine Art Portraits. She did something I am unable to do and froze a small moment in time capturing my sweet babies in an act of sibling love. This is the way that I always want to remember my children. I know that this portrait will only become more precious to me as time passes.
I have always been an art lover and have partaken in quite a few different expressions of art during my lifetime, so when Caleigh approached me with a collaboration request I instantly felt drawn to her and her amazing talents. I was very impressed with the pictures she showcased on her site and eager to see my own little cherubs captured forever as a timeless keepsake.
The process (for me) was simple, I sent her a photo, and waited; twiddling my thumbs in anticipation.
Because I used to draw, I know that talent it takes to produce such an exact likeness, I tried my hand at portraits but was nowhere near as talented as Caleigh. When I first saw the pictures she sent me of the finished piece, I could barely believe that she’d actually drawn it! It so closely resembles the picture I sent I was completely blown away.
For Caleigh I know the process was much more challenging and I can tell that her portraits are a labor of love because of the intense and focused detail that is in each piece.
I felt the love of a mother well up in my heart as I gazed at the sweet pictures of my little babes; seeing that precious moment of sibling love frozen forever in classical perfection made me emotional in the way only a mother can be (because I know you understand when I say I cry at all the sappy parts in kids movies these days).
So if you’re looking for a unique gift idea, or would just like to see your loved ones captured in a moment in time, consider commissioning a portrait with Caleigh -you won’t regret it!
I decided to give this photo to my husband for our nine year anniversary this week, I can’t wait to see the look on his face when I present it to him! The photo Caleigh drew is actually one of my husband’s recent favorites, so I know he will be in awe at the perfect likeness that she recreated for us.
Obviously as a Social Media Mom pictures are very important to me, but I just loved that this hand drawn portrait put an extra classic spin on my photo! I feel like I’m starting my very own collection of fine art thanks to Caleigh. I think custom portraits are a bit of a lost art these days, one that we should definitely bring back!
You can check out more photos of the process and finished art work below! I also included the original photo so you can see just how accurate of a rendering Caleigh produced.
